| | | A Note From Our FounderDr. Michelle Boodoo
Living with depression presents immense challenges and a sense of isolation. The stigma surrounding mental health often makes it difficult for individuals to seek help, leaving them ashamed or afraid to open up. Many wear a brave facade, smiling, laughing, and listening, all while silently battling inner turmoil. Appearances can be deceiving, as beneath the surface, a different reality may be unfolding.
It's crucial to educate ourselves about the signs and symptoms of depression to enable us to recognize when someone we care about might be struggling. A small act, like checking in on them, can have a profound impact. Let's build a safe and supportive environment where seeking help is seen as courage, not weakness. Together, we can dismantle the barriers of shame and fear surrounding mental health. Your understanding, empathy, and willingness to listen can be a lifeline for someone in need.
Remember, it's okay to ask for help, and it's equally important to offer support to those around us. By bridging the gap between appearances and reality, we ensure no one slips away unnoticed. Let's stand by one another, providing the love and support that can make a life-saving difference. Together, we can make a positive impact on each other's lives. |

| | What’s happening in June? | | | Always be authentic in everything you do; the people who deserve to be around you will adjust. JUST BE YOU! | | | | Pride Month: Love is Love
During June, we commemorate Pride Month, when we unite to celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion for all. However, it is crucial to raise awareness regarding the ongoing challenges faced by our LGBTQ+ friends and family. Reports from experts in the medical field indicate a potential increase in suicide rates within the LGBTQ+ community.
In light of these concerns, I implore you to extend your care and support to your friends and family. Educating yourself about the warning signs of depression and suicidal thoughts can be instrumental in aiding your loved ones during their time of need. Let us stand together and foster a compassionate environment, ensuring the well-being of all individuals within our community.

June is Mental Health Awareness Month for Men
Both men and women can experience mental health challenges; however, men tend to seek treatment less. Furthermore, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide rates are higher among men.
If you are silently struggling with mental health issues, it is imperative to communicate with loved ones and seek assistance from a qualified professional. Concealing depression is not a viable solution, and there should be no fear or shame in reaching out for help. Prioritizing one's mental health by seeking assistance is of utmost importance.

| | Depression and Isolation
Feeling depressed may lead to a desire to avoid social interactions altogether. Nevertheless, isolating oneself when experiencing depression or suicidal thoughts is highly detrimental. Isolation can potentially escalate to self-harm or, in extreme cases, suicide. It is crucial not to isolate oneself during these times of distress. Instead, reaching out to loved ones and allowing them to assist is important.
Opening up about your emotions and seeking their support will enable them to share the burden. They can also offer unconditional love and support and help you access the necessary mental health assistance. |

| | Did You Know? | | | Stop Overthinking
A common experience that many of us can relate to is overthinking. We are all familiar with the sensation of our minds racing and tirelessly analyzing every detail and possibility. It can be exhausting; however, it is important to recognize that overthinking does not have to dominate our lives. Also, not all thoughts require immediate attention or deep analysis. So please take a deep breath, embrace the power of the present moment, and allow yourself to focus on what truly matters. Remember, life is meant to be experienced, not constantly dissected. Let go of the worry, embrace the uncertainty, and trust in your ability to navigate whatever comes your way. |

| | Men Your Mental Health Matter
Men tend to be less inclined to seek professional assistance to discuss their mental health concerns. Consequently, their emotional difficulties may manifest through various symptoms, including: Aggression and violence Engagement in high-risk activities Substance abuse Physical issues, such as chronic headaches or stomachaches Feelings of restlessness and difficulty focusing Appetite and weight fluctuations Fatigue Obsessive thinking.
If you are struggling with a mental health issue, please seek help and share your feelings with your loved ones. Remember, you are not alone in facing these challenges. Please reach out for support and assistance.

| | 76% Of All Suicides Are By Men
It's time we address a critical issue that often goes unnoticed - men's mental health. While it's true that men are less likely to seek professional help for their emotional challenges, the consequences of this silence are alarming. Shockingly, a staggering 76% of all suicides are by men. This statistic speaks volumes about the hidden pain and burdens they carry within.
We can make a difference as friends, family, and a compassionate community. Let's proactively check on our loved ones, especially those we know are struggling with mental health issues. Reach out, lend a listening ear, and offer your support without judgment.
We understand that discussing emotions and seeking help may not come naturally to everyone, but breaking the stigma surrounding men's mental health is crucial. Empathy and understanding can create safe spaces where our fathers, brothers, sons, and friends feel comfortable sharing their struggles.
