Depression, Anxiety, and College

Jenna was a college student studying biology. She has always been a driven and passionate student, but lately, she has found herself struggling to keep up with her classes. She had been feeling unmotivated, sad, and anxious for weeks and couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong with her.

One day, Jenna decided to make an appointment with her college’s counseling center. She had never sought help before and was nervous about opening up to a stranger, but she knew she needed to take the first step to feeling better.

At her first therapy appointment, Jenna was surprised at how easy it was to talk to her counselor. She told him about her struggles with depression and anxiety and how they impacted her schoolwork and personal life. Her counselor listened attentively and assured her she was not alone in her struggles.

Over the next few weeks, Jenna continued to attend therapy sessions and started taking medication for her depression. It wasn’t an overnight fix, but she began to feel better as time went on. She started to engage in self-care activities, like going for walks and journaling, which helped to ease her symptoms.

Jenna’s grades also started to improve. She found that she could focus better on her studies and was more motivated to do well. She even joined a biology club on campus and started volunteering at a local animal shelter.

As the semester ended, Jenna felt proud of herself for seeking help and taking steps toward her recovery. She knew that her journey with depression wasn’t over, but she felt more equipped to handle it. She was grateful for the support of her counselor, friends, and family and felt hopeful for the future.

Jenna’s story shows that it’s never too late to seek help for depression. With the proper support and resources, overcoming the challenges and living a fulfilling life are possible.
