Suicide is a Silent Crisis
Suicide is a silent crisis. It was the 2nd leading cause of death for ages 10–14 and 25–34, and the 3rd for ages 15–24. Please check on your “happy” friends, they may smile on the outside, but silently struggle on the inside. These numbers are more than statistics, they are real lives and real people who felt alone.
If you or someone you know is in Mental distress, CALL or TEXT 988 or go to https://988lifeline.org for help.

This is Alberto … and this is his story
Thank you @Alberto Suarez for having the strength to make the right decision. You are an amazing person, and I wish only the best for you in this new journey. Be Kind…Always
Robin Williams's powerful message has a profound impact on mental health: “Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about; be kind, always.”
Many people carry invisible burdens such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief. You may not see their struggles, but your kindness could be the light they need during dark moments. We can listen without judgment and show compassion to one another. As Robin Williams wisely said, "Let's be kind. Always." You never know whose life it might save.
Attn: Mom and Dad
People who are depressed or suicidal may not always say they’re struggling, but they often show signs nonverbally. Recognizing these behaviors can help you intervene early and potentially save a life.
Here are non-verbal signs that someone may be depressed, suicidal, and silently asking for help:
. Withdrawal from family, friends, or activities they once enjoyed
. Sudden isolation or spending more time alone than usual
. Neglecting personal hygiene or appearance (not bathing, grooming, or changing clothes)
. Changes in sleep (insomnia, sleeping too much)
. Eating changes (loss of appetite or overeating)
. Fatigue or low energy, moving or speaking slower than usual
Please check on your loved ones and ask the difficult questions. Talking about suicide could save their lives.
If you or someone you know is in Mental distress, CALL or TEXT 988 or go to https://988lifeline.org for help.
A suicide prevention safety plan is a personalized, practical tool to help guide you through difficult moments. It provides clear steps you can follow to keep yourself safe when you're feeling overwhelmed, depressed, or having thoughts of suicide. Creating a step-by-step plan in advance can make a big difference. When a crisis hits, you will have a guide to help you focus, find support, and move toward safety one step at a time. Make sure your safety plan is easy to access when you need it most. Whether it's written down or saved on your phone, having it ready can be a powerful way to protect yourself in moments of distress.

Suicide Prevention is Everyday
As we come together to share our stories of loved ones we lost to suicide, we do so in the hopes of helping others through their darkest moments. The first part of this video is of Kathy’s dad walking in the Pyrenees to honor Kathy’s 27th birthday in 2024 and the second part is one of his life’s greatest moments in 2019 … their father-daughter dance. 💔

“Together, we can work towards a future where mental health is openly discussed and supported, bringing comfort and assistance to those who need it the most.”
“During a long and fulfilling career in higher education, I found myself at a crossroads. In April 2022, I faced a heartbreaking tragedy when I lost my stepdaughter to suicide. This devastating event forced me to reevaluate my life’s direction.”
“After 40-plus hours of traveling, the plane landed in the US, and without words, my red puffy eyes and runny nose told a story of despair and loss.”
